For this GD1 project we wanted to explore communication with an audience by providing an object for the audience to communicate with. We each created a simple shape, with the goal to make a modular wall graphic system. These shapes are magnets that are meant to be arranged, played with, and moved around by the public to create new and interesting patterns. Visit our movable module system in Brown 3rd floor, and have fun interacting! After all that’s what graphic design is all about.

This time-based media was constructed on the premise of conceiving a pattern solely out of triangles and the ways that the pattern as a basic unit can transform as it becomes a larger whole. This was done by using color, direction, timing, speed, and the elimination of units as individual pieces as well as the entirety to make up a story consisting of a variety of patterns based initially off of one. Each part of this process was reinforced by the idea of keeping each section of the piece aesthetically pleasing, balanced, cohesive, and simple.
